Hello all! The last General Membership Meeting for the 2011/2012 year was Tuesday, April 3rd. Thank you to all who attended! All of those who did not attend missed out on some great pizza!

Hello again to the returning Executive Committee members, and welcome to the new ones! Here’s hoping for a great new academic year, and that those who are leaving (Executive and local members both) do well on whichever path life takes them.

The other major piece of news from the GMM is regarding the local finances: in summary, the Trustees Audit will not occur until around the end of May/beginning of June, due to complications with changing the local’s fiscal year to match the academic year. For further information, check out the minutes.

I would also like to announce the winners of the Winter Professional Development Bursary. They are:

Kevin Montroy, who attended the MBA Games 2012
Peter Binsted, who attended the MRS Fall 2011
Kathy Kortes-Miller, who attended the Interprofessional Education Conference

Congratulations to the recipients! Hopefully the conferences were enlightening. I would also like to remind members that the deadline for the Spring/Summer Professional Development Bursary is August 1, so if you will be attending a conference prior to that date, make sure to download the application and submit it!

Finally, I would also like to thank the members of CUPE Local 3905: you all have been great to work for, and for those that I have interacted with regarding local business, have treated me courteously. With the end of the academic year comes the end of my employment, and I have greatly enjoyed the opportunity to work with you all. I wish you all the best in your future endeavours.

Hello, Brothers and Sisters. Here are the proposed bylaw amendments, which will be voted on at the General Membership Meeting on April 3rd. The majority of the proposed changes are in Section 11.

This is just a reminder to all members that the Winter Personal Development Bursary deadline is tomorrow Thursday, March 1st. You have until the end of office hours (1:00-3:00 PM 2:30-5:30 PM) tomorrow Thursday to hand in your application. All applications must be handed in during office hours; e-mail submissions and under-the-door submissions will not be accepted.

I apologize for the confusion, apparently the Leap Year caught me by surprise! So, you have until the end of office hours on Thursday to hand in your applications.

Hello all! We have just gotten the new application for the CUPE Local 3905 Graduate Award, and have added a page about it to the website. Check it out, or click here to download it. There are three awards of $1000 available to graduate level students holding a B average who demonstrate financial need, so make sure to download the application and hand it in to Graduate Studies! The application deadline is April 1st.

Firstly, hope everyone enjoyed their holidays, and did well with exams!

The office will be opening again starting Monday, January 9th. The office hours will be as follows:

Monday: 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Tuesday: 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM
Wednesday: 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM
Thursday: 2:30 PM – 5:30 PM

If any changes need to be made to the office hours, they will be posted here, and linked to Facebook and Twitter, as well.
